Cary Grant’s iconic gray suit from Hitchcock’s North By Northwest is still as classy today as it was when it journeyed through train stations and those notorious crop fields. Cary Grant’s character didn’t bring a change of clothes or luggage because he had to spontaneously escape. But who needs a spare change of clothes when you are dressed like Cary Grant? His gray suit works for business, adventure and leisure.

As I start this blog community to bring travelers together, I toast Cary Grant's effortless style with his chosen Gibson cocktail.

If you had to wear one outfit for a spontaneous long weekend get-away and could not bring any other wardrobe items, what would you wear and why?

As we are in the start of autumn, I'm thinking I'd include: a Zara trench coat to channel any noir-intrigue along the way, a Loft retro-chic dress and Puma sporty flats because they can handle cobbled stones and any running I might need to do from mysterious agents on the train! I realize Hitchcock and most women would prefer heels or boots, but I'm a sure-footed rebel.

What outfit would suit your needs the most? Do you travel more for business, adventure or leisure? Share here. Let's create a one-outfit trip together!

Don't be shy about posting! I'd love to know which outfit you'd want to be "stuck in" for a trip! Would you also pick something like the gray suit or something more casual? Imagine a luggage-less trip that took you all across your home country! How would you want to appear?

Props to Cary Grant for his style but for me it's all about comfort when travelling. This time of year an oversized comfy sweater sounds really appealing for a long trip! Although it could just be bacause it's a lazy Sunday afternoon as I'm writing this!

Yes, I believe a comfy sweater is definitely fitting for autumn weather. Part of me likes to imagine what I'd wear in a daydream of myself and part of me knows I'd have to be more practical for comfort. Thanks for your response!

Great post! I would opt for a trench coat as you suggested, perhaps with a light sweater or jacket and tee underneath. I'd go for pants and black, black, black. I'd add black riding boots to complete the look. Maybe I'd add a colorful scarf for a bit of pop.

Black pants would be very wise!! And your idea of layering a tee under a sweater would be perfect for any temperature changes. And, as always, loving the addition of a scarf! Riding boots are practical but also tough - you could definitely exude strength from any mysterious figures with those kicks!
